The canals are one of the most attractive aspects of Manchester’s regeneration and staying at the Castlefield allows you to overlook them and walk along a towpath right into the city centre. It also receives regular praise for the good condition of the rooms, the attentiveness of the staff and the leisure facilities in the Yclub.
The Castlefield Hotel is modern property with a redbrick façade and a wonderful canalside location. The bright and spacious lobby is a comfortable place to meet friends, have coffee, or just relax with a newspaper. The 48 guestrooms feature understated décor, complemented by slightly chintzy quilted bedspreads and matching curtains. All have workspaces and hospitality trays and are well maintained (as are the en suite bathrooms). Fine food (à la carte or table d'hôte) and the added pleasure of a comprehensive wine list are on offer in the Wharf Restaurant. Guests can enjoy the elegant and relaxed surroundings of the Lounge Bar, which overlooks the rejuvenated canal basin, with its colourful narrow boats. The bar also features a large screen television for sporting events.
Guests have free access to the on-site sports centre, with its 18-metre pool, indoor running track, sauna and steam room and fully equipped gym. The hotel also has a spa which offers an excellent range of treatments and products, all reasonably priced. All hotel guests are entitled to 10% off products.
